The Automotive Technology AAS degree prepares people to use technical knowledge and skills to repair, service, and maintain all types of cars and light trucks. Through classroom direction and hands-on training, you will find out how to identify, service and repair brake systems, electrical systems, engine efficiency, engine repair work, suspension and steering, automatic and manual transmissions and drive trains, and heating and air condition systems.

Graduates of this pathway will be required to take professional licensure examinations, which correspond to particular programs of research study, and to get in careers as entry-level professionals in the transport industry.

Students who complete the Automotive Technology AAS degree are halfway to earning a bachelor' degree in Automotive Technology at SIUC. The students will have made 55 of the 129 term hours of credit needed for the degree.
